Fees and honoraria
Canon specifies that the priest presiding at an Episcopal service for a member does not receive an honoraria.  If one is provided by you or the family, it will most likely go toward a ministry of the parish like the Discretionary Fund.  Professional musicians should be compensated.  Contact the the musician, the office or the funeral home for appropriate honoraria. There is no cost for the service.  A donation is appreciated if a luncheon is held in the Great Room to help cover costs for additonal house keeping expenses.  It is NOT required.

Music selections; Prelude and Postlude.  Any music written for the organ or any hymn tunes are appropriate here.  Organists have a repertoir of music if you do not have a preference.
Special music and musician including contact information.  Solo or anthem.  Secular music is not appropriate but there are many songs or instrumental pieces that are appropriate.  Please ask the musician before including them in the service.  Contact the priest if you are unsure if a piece is appropriate or not.
Hymns - It is appropriate but not required to have a Gathering/Processional Hymn, an Offertory Hymn, one or two hymns during communion, and a Sending Hymn. Most hymns are appropriate for a funeral.  For a list of ideas please contact the office. Instrumentals may be substituted for these times as well.
Prefered organist or pianist and contact information if they are not from the parish.  The priest will find a musician if one is not specified.
Eulogy/Reflection. Some would like a family member or friend share a story or two as a part of the service.  This is optional.  Remember people will be mourning which makes it harder to speak in front of a crowd.  Ask them prior to listing them as a speaker.  Invite them to speak with the priest when the final service is being organized.  Please share name and contact information.
Flower preferences.  This is optional but may be helpful for grieving family members.  Two arrangements for altar flowers is appropriate.
Memorial donations if desired.  Please list where donations may be given if you have a charity you would like to support.  Donations to the parish are placed in a memorial fund to be used at a later date unless otherwise specified.
